Jeanie Thompson has published three chapbooks and four poetry collections, including How to Enter the River (Holy Cow!, 1985), Witness (Black Belt, 1995), White for Harvest: New and Selected Poems (River City, 2000), and The Seasons Bear Us (River City, 2009). She has received artist fellowships from the Louisiana Arts Council (1982) and the Alabama State Council on the Arts (1989, 2011), and was named alumni artist of the year by the University of Alabama College of Arts and Sciences (2003). Founding director of the award-winning Alabama Writers' Forum, she also teaches in Spalding University's brief-residency MFA Writing Program.
